Climate models are increasingly complex, interconnected ecosystems. They feed into one another, combining data, scientific laws as well as speculation. Is it possible to discern ‘fact’ from ‘fiction’ within the web of SSPs; RCPs, SRESs, CMIPs, IAMs, as prophecies within these graphs are fixed into policy?

Graphs are a familiar language. We recognise the crests and falls, iconic and symbolic shapes. The line offers a depiction of the relationship between two factors; a simplification that becomes a language in itself, and one that we trust through its own certainty and determinism.
